Tinder Matchmaker is useful if you already ask friends to review screenshots, debate profiles, or talk you out of bad swipe decisions. It brings that second opinion into Tinder, but it does not hand your account over to someone else.

What is Tinder Matchmaker?

Tinder Matchmaker lets you invite friends to recommend profiles without requiring them to download Tinder or create a Tinder account. A friend can review a limited set of profiles through Tinder Web and recommend someone, but Tinder says they are not Liking that person on your behalf. You still decide whether to Like, Nope, or ignore the recommendation.

How to invite a friend

Tinder says you can create a unique Matchmaker link from a profile you are viewing or from Settings > Manage Matchmaker.

  1. Open Tinder and expand a profile, or go to Settings > Manage Matchmaker.
  2. Generate a unique Matchmaker link.
  3. Share the link with a friend.
  4. Your friend opens the link on Tinder Web.
  5. After the session window, you can see which profiles were recommended.

Tinder says users can create up to 15 unique links per day, and each link expires after 4 hours. Every friend who receives a link sees the same profiles.

What your friend can and cannot do

  • They can recommend profiles by swiping right in the friend experience.
  • They cannot Like or Nope someone on your behalf.
  • They do not need to download the Tinder app.
  • They can continue as a non-Tinder user or sign in, depending on the flow.
  • If they share a name, you may see who made the recommendation.

This distinction is important. Matchmaker is a recommendation feature, not account sharing. Do not give friends your login, let them message matches for you, or use the feature to mock people.

Can friends see your messages?

The official Matchmaker help page describes friends recommending profiles, not reading your private chats. They see the profiles shared in the Matchmaker experience. They do not get control of your inbox, and they do not message matches for you.

Who should use Tinder Matchmaker?

  • Use it if your friends understand your taste and your dating goals.
  • Use it if you keep choosing profiles that are exciting but clearly mismatched.
  • Use it when you want a second opinion before swiping on a profile.
  • Skip it if your friends are careless with privacy, overly judgmental, or likely to turn dating into a joke.

If your Tinder profile still is not getting matches, get a free profile score and a photo-by-photo action plan based on your actual photos.

Does Matchmaker help you get more matches?

It can help you make better choices, but it does not guarantee more matches. A friend may spot compatibility signals you missed, but the other person still has to Like you back. Your photos, bio, and first messages still matter more than the recommendation label.

Availability and privacy notes

Tinder's help page says Matchmaker has limited availability in select test markets, so not every Tinder user has access. It also says anyone in the world can use the friend experience if they receive an invitation. If privacy matters to you, use Matchmaker only with people you trust and end active sessions from Settings > Manage Matchmaker if needed.

Tinder also says users can opt out of having their own profile shown in the Matchmaker experience.
